Emission and excitation spectra of the dimer center of Sn 2+ ions in the CaSe phosphor are measured at 6 K. The temperature quenching of the luminescence of the dimer and monomer centers is also measured. Eight excitation bands originating from the dimer center are found. The values of the spectroscopic parameters appearing in the energy matrices of the dimer center are determined so that the electronic levels obtained experimentally and theoretically may coincide with each other.
