The L‐band calculation of Page, Strozier, and Hygh (PSH) is re‐examined. Using the semicontinuum model, the dipole strength and photo cross‐section are calculated for ground state to continuum state absorption of light. The results do not agree with those of PSH. The salient difference is that the dipole strength is structureless and leads to a cross‐section similar to that of hydrogen. From this it is concluded that this simple model does not account for the L‐band structure.
