The aluminium Kβ x emission spectra and transition metal L 2,3 emission and self‐absorption spectra of the alloys VAl, FeAl, CoAl, and NiAl are measured by the use of a primary Bragg‐Soller spectrometer. Emission spectra and absorption spectra are converted into differential emission probabilities. Therefore, their height relations are significant. The spectra and the integral intensities are discussed in terms of free electron‐d‐resonance and charge transfer. A detailed comparison with bandstructure calculations will be presented in a second paper.
