The influence of spatial dispersion on the transmittivity of a semiconductor platelet in the region of an exciton resonance is investigated theoretically. In detail the dependences on the exciton parameters such as translational mass, polarizability, and damping are discussed. It is found that all the peculiarities observed experimentally for the A ground state exciton in CdS can be explained quantitatively.
