The cross‐section for one‐phonon inelastic scattering of thermal neutrons by a perfect crystal slab with simple cubic lattice is calculated taking into account multiple elastic collisions of neutrons with atoms and also the role of atomic vibrations in elastic diffraction. The pendellösung effect in the one‐phonon peak is considered when the Bragg condition corresponding to Laue diffraction is fulfilled for the incident wave.
