A classical system of dipoles is investigated interacting via retarded dipole‐dipole and nonretarded “mechanical” forces. On the basis of formulae deduced in previous papers two models of mechanical forces (exponential model and next‐nearest neighbour model) are investigated. After evaluating of refraction indices and reflexivity for both the models it is shown that the results are comparable with those of the continuous model dielectric.
