The contributions of the van der Waal's interaction and the zero‐point energy are incorporated in the dynamical matrix of the three‐body force shell model. The modified model is applied to the study of the dispersion of phonons, Debye temperature, and Raman spectra in the case of potassium halides. The study shows excellent agreement between the theoretical and experimental values.
