Within the functional integral treatment it is shown, that local magnetic moments for the conventional half‐filled Hubbard model with repulsive correlation correspond to charge densities for an attractive correlation. Inclusion of electron—phonon interaction leads to a renormalization of repulsion energy and to a charge‐ordered state for a negative effective Ũ . Fluctuations in the effective charge field turn out to be important in this region.
