Improvements of the RPA‐dielectric function of a plasma are investigated using the framework of Green's‐function technique which are of importance especially if bound states (excitons) are formed. It is shown that beyond the contribution of free carriers to the dielectric function a contribution due to the polarizability of the bound states arises.
