The dielectric function of the one‐dimensional Hubbard model is evaluated in the strong correlation limit for small wave numbers and arbitrary electron concentrations in the paramagnetic phase. Expressions are given for the plasma frequencies, the plasmon stiffness, the critical wave number and for the real and imaginary part of the dielectric function in the whole frequency region. The results are compared with recent experimental studies of K‐TCNQ (potassium‐tetracyanoquino‐dimethane) performed by Tanner et al.
