The elastic moduli of polytypic modifications of close‐packed crystals are calculated. A microscopic calculation of the elastic moduli is made for close‐packing of atoms of the same kind and for tetrahedrally coordinated structures of ZnS‐type crystals. A new variant of a phenomenological approach is suggested, where the requirements of the general theory of internal stresses in crystals are taken into account. Two independent approaches, a microscopic and phenomenologic one, reveal a similar dependence of the elastic moduli on the polytype structure. The elastic energies of various polytypes in stressed states are compared.
