Phonon frequencies in NaCl at 80 K have been determined using neutron inelastic scattering. 72 off‐symmetry phonons are measured, both in the symmetry plane (1 1 0) and in the off‐symmetry plane (301). The experimental frequencies are compared to earlier breathing shell model calculations and found to be in excellent agreement.
