A semistatistical model is used for neutral and ionized atoms to calculate channeling parameters like critical angles. The variation of interatomic potential with interatomic distance based on this model, is compared with that obtained with other approximations of the Thomas‐Fermi model. It is found that the interatomic potential itself and the channeling parameters obtained compare well with predictions of TF model and with experiment.
