The results of a neutron diffraction experiment on a b.c.c. single crystal of Cr 0.6 Mn 0.4 are analysed in terms of a spherical atom form factor to give a mean magnetic moment per atom of (0.82 ± 0.04) β. The deviations from spherical shape of the spatial distribution of the magnetic moment are explained in terms of a predominantly t 2 symmetry.
