The variation of the crystal electronic spectrum under the influence of both monochromatic and nonmonochromatic, both lineraly and circularly polarized electromagnetic wave is studied using a simple method. The difference between the cases of parabolic and nonparabolic, spherical and nonspherical dispersion relations is analysed in detail. The one‐band approximation is justified when the photon energy is much less than the gap energy.
