The KLL‐Auger electron spectra of clean Na and Mg metal are measured. A quantitative analysis of these spectra is performed taking into account the core hole–conduction electron coupling and the creation of plasmons by electron scattering. The plasmon intensities are found to be equal to those observed in XPS experiments. The relative Auger line intensities differ from those in the vapor phase.
