The Faraday rotation is investigated in the general case for any mechanism of energy and momentum scattering of hot electrons in the presence of a strong or weak transverse magnetic field, when the free carriers are captured by oppositely charged impurity centres. For some definite scattering mechanisms the investigations are carried out in the presence of any finite magnetic field. It is shown that the capture parameters for deep traps and the dominant scattering mechanism of the hot carriers can be determined from a comparison of the theoretical results with experiments. Calculations are carried out assuming a parabolic dispersion law and a scalar effective mass.
