Creation and annihilation operators for impurities introduced in a previous paper are applied 1) to describe some known models of the metal–insulator and other phase transitions, 2) to discuss the problem of mixed‐valence using the thermodynamic perturbation method. The results derived are extensions of those previously obtained and coincide with them in the proper limit. The calculation of the equation of state (i.e. the pressure) is discussed in relation to this treatment.
