Starting from an earlier pseudopotential result of Sorbello an expression is obtained for the driving force for electromigration in liquid metal alloys. The resulting force expression is equivalent to the Faber formula. This formula is extended to include electron‐ion potentials which are described by t ‐matrices in a phase‐shift representation. Calculations are made for Na–K and Na–Rb alloys using a modified substitutional model for partial ionic structure factors and using the phase shifts computed by Meyer, Nestor, and Young. The theoretical calculations predict reversals in the direction of alloy separation near the experimentally observed values.
