The density of states of an electron and an exciton gas in a strong magnetic field and in a Gaussian random potential is calculated. The effect of the magnetic freeze‐out of the tail states owing to the Landau shifts, the dependence of the „damping” of the tails on the magnetic field, as well as the magnetic field dependent quantum shift of the deep tails are found. In some cases, the effect can provide means for a statement of the presence of excitons in non‐crystalline solids.
