On the basis of the general theory developed earlier of electronic absorption (EAb) and amplification (EAm) of sound (acoustic waves), which is valid, in particular, at the so‐called „intermediate” frequencies ql ≈ 1 ( q wave number, l mean free path of electrons), explicit expressions are obtained for the coefficients of EAb and EAm of sound for various mechanisms of electron momentum scattering and for arbitrary degree of degeneracy of the electron gas. With the help of these expressions the large number of published experimental data are analysed concerning the measurements of EAb and EAm of sound in the wide frequency range including intermediate frequencies. In all cases quite satisfactory agreement between theory and experiment is reached without using any „matching” parameters.
