It is shown that there exist bound states of electrons and optical phonons in a film stipulated by the electron‐phonon interaction, quadratic in the displacement of the lattice. The full solution of the problem for the model Hamiltonian, in which the interaction is determined only by the momentum transfer is obtained. The existence of the bound states is also proved for a more realistic description of the polarization electron‐phonon interaction.
