Scattering and decay probabilities are obtained for a „hot” Wannier‐Mott exciton of arbitrary kinetic energy which interacts with the longitudinal polarizational lattice vibrations (LO‐phonons). All computations are performed for three different values of the ratio m 2 / m 1 , where m 1 ( m 2 ) is the electron (hole) effective mass. It is shown for the case of quite different electron and hole effective masses that the scattering and decay probabilities are essentially comparable. These results show a theoretical evidence in favour of the existence of hot excitons.
