An approximate solution of the Hubbard model is proposed which is correct in second order in I /Δ. In difference to the energy‐dependent Born approximation it preserves the presumed particle–hole symmetry of the Hamiltonian and is correct in the atomic limit, too. The one‐particle spectrum is calculated neglecting finite lifetime effects.
