The infrared absorption by an optical polaron in an external magnetic field is discussed for weakly polar semiconductors at low temperatures. The broadening of the cyclotron resonance and the anomaleous behaviour of the cyclotron mass are evaluated to first order in the electron‐phonon coupling using a well‐known perturbational approximation.
