Calculations of spin levels and effective magnetic moments as functions of reduced temperature, μ eff ( kT/J ), are carried out for Heisenberg open finite chains with ion spins of 1/2 to 5/2 containing up to 11 subunits ( N ≦ 11). Some relationships useful in interpretation of experimental results are considered. A detailed comparison of the results with literature data is given.
