A coupled system of generalized Boltzmann equations with field‐dependent collision terms is derived, taking into account both intraband and interband transitions of the charge carriers. The field dependence of the collision terms is shown to be of importance if the field‐induced energetic uncertainty becomes comparable with the mean energy of the charge carriers. The interband part of the one‐electron density operator is investigated which is associated with the occurrence of an interband current.
