Deep centres of zinc sulfide single crystals doped with indium to different concentrations are investigated by impurity electroabsorption (IEA) and luminescence. The phenomenon of IEA sign reversal with change of light polarization direction relative to the modulating electric field from the parallel to the perpendicular direction is experimentally observed. An explanation of this effect is proposed assuming a strong EA dependence on the angle between the acting electric field and the light polarization in a crystal with random electric fields.
