Experimental results on the dispersion of cyclotron waves of the extraordinary and the ordinary type are analyzed in order to examine whether or not numerical estimates for some of the Landau A n coefficients can be deduced. The analysis includes results on silver and potassium and the conclusion drawn is that no such estimate can be given. On the contrary, the experimental results are in good agreement with dispersion curves calculated on the basis of a finite value of Ωτ. The behaviour of the dispersion relations in the vicinity of thc Azbel‐Kaner rosonances is examined in the limit ωτ → CO.
