A variety of lattice phase transitions and conductivity anomalies are observed in the archetypical bilinear organic conductors TTF‐TCNQ and HMTSF‐TCNQ. The elastic microdomain model (EMM) explains these transitions in terms of alignments of coexisting conducting and insulating domains.
