Flexural‐strain‐modulated ESR spectra of Fe 2+ in MgO are reported. No first‐harmonic SMESR signal is detected. The angular dependence of the second‐harmonic signal is consistent with modulation of the tensor D by the periodic strain field. The magnitude of the effect is calibrated against the known width of the spin packets. The value of G 11 = 680 cm −1 (±25%), deduced from this experiment, agrees well with literature data.
