The temperature and the (sin θ)/λ dependences of Bragg and diffuse scattering intensities have been measured in Pb 0.63 Sn 0.37 Te powder samples. The X‐ray Debye temperature has been determined. Low temperature anomalies in the Debye‐Waller factor have been observed and are briefly discussed. An upper limit to the mean‐square static displacement of the atoms is established and possible causes for it are discussed.
