The interaction between divalent ions such as Ca ++ , Sr ++ , and Ba + + and its associate positive ion vacancy with substitutional H − and D − ions is studied. A model is proposed for the trapping of the divalent ion by the H − anions. The strong perturbation on the H − , and D − localized vibration introduced by the divalent ion and its vacancy is reported. The decrease on the barrier height for I.V. dipole relaxation was studied by dielectric loss technique.
