The L 23 MM Auger spectrum of solid argon, the M 45 NN Auger spectrum of solid krypton, and the M 45 N 45 N 45 Auger spectrum of solid xenon have been measured at high resolution. The data has been compared with a computer simulation in which solid data is represented by the gas phase data with broadened lines. The solid phase breadths are 3.6, 4.6, and 2.9 eV, respectively. Characteristic energy loss spectra of the three solids are also reported.
