The Green's function method to evaluate the frequency sums Σ f (λ i ) of crystals with defects is generalized to the calculation of the sums Σ f (λ i ) (δλ i /δα). The deduced formulae are used for the calculation of the Grüneisen constant and the heat expansion coefficient of the linear chain with isolated defects.
