EPR measurements of HFS of nuclei 1 H, 2 D in spectra of quartz glasses and 29 Si in spectra of high‐silicate glasses have been made and analysed. A stochastic model for the γ‐radiation‐induced paramagnetic centres are suggested. Calculations of the electronic structure of the unit AB 4 have been carried out and a correlation diagram between the orbitals possible for tetrahedral (T d ) and pyramidal (C 3v ) configurations has been obtained. This enables one to make comments on the EPR spectra of the units SiO 4 3− and ROSiO 3 2− .
