A comparison has been made between the experimentally observed spectral lineshape of the luminescence due to the recombination of excitonic molecules in CuCl at 4.2 K and a theoretical calculation involving transitions from the biexciton ground state to the longitudinal and transverse excitonic states. A new value of the binding energy of the excitonic molecule in its ground state is deduced and compared with theoretical evaluations.
