Recombination luminescence of alkali halides doped with divalent cations has been studied during X‐irradiation at several temperatures. Besides the emission bands from the excited states of the impurity, four types of additional bands were observed. These emission bands were tentatively assigned to (X 2 − + e) recombination perturbed by divalent cations on the basis of a model of (X 2 − + e) in which nearby cation orbitals are involved.
