Careful investigation of differential spectra superimposed on interference phenomena permits one to obtain original information on impurity states localized in the gap. The piezomodulation technique used to obtain homogeneous modulation is a complementary test of luminescence experiments in identifying impurity states. Two examples of investigations on GaSb and ZnTe, are given.
