The results of the absorption edge study of some glasses based on CdAs 2 are discussed in terms of internal potential fluctuations. Both the electrostatic and deformation fluctuations are present in a‐CdGeAs 2 whereas in remaining glasses only the former were observed. A qualitative description of the electronic properties of these glasses offers Boer's real‐glass model. Its applicability limits are discussed. At elevated temperatures, the edges formally obey the Urbach rule. Possible reasons for this behaviour are considered.
