Starting from the Fröhlich electron‐phonon interaction for crystals with anisotropic band masses and dielectric constants, the polaron self‐energy and effective mass are calculated. An expression for the effective electron‐hole interaction in anisotropic crystals is derived. The effect of the electron–phonon interaction on the anisotropy of the electron–hole potential is discussed.
