Spin–lattice relaxation measurements at microwave frequencies in the liquid helium temperature range yield relaxation rates which are four orders of magnitude faster than the corresponding rate in a system without Jahn‐Teller complications. The results also emphasize that Jahn‐Teller parameters for this system cannot be determined to‐date with any certainty.
