The usability of the Debye theory of vibrational frequency spectra of solids for evaluating the Mössbauer recoilless fraction is discussed. Mössbauer effect in solid krypton is particularly considered for this purpose. The study of the effect of pressure on recoilless fraction of the Fe 57 impurity in vanadium supports the Debye model. Further improvement is outlined using the concept of centro‐frequency of the vibrational spectra.
