Following an approach of Enderlein and Peuker Kubo's formula serves to calculate the differential tunneling conductivity in the cases of direct forbidden transitions and indirect (phonon‐assisted) allowed transitions. Whereas the forbidden transitions lead to a conductivity roughly hundred times smaller than for allowed transitions the contribution from the indirect transitions depends on the coupling constant of the electron‐phonon interaction and may have the same order of magnitude as for the direct allowed transitions.
