The optical absorption by the frenkel exciton in V 2 O 3

Results are presented of an experimental study of the polarized‐light absorption spectra of V 2 O 3 at the fundamental absorption edge. It is shown that the absorption spectra can be described within the framework of the theory of optical absorption of Frenkel excitons which strongly interact with phonons.
