The possibility of introducing a reservoir of interactions responsible for cross‐relaxation with the inverse temperature β cr is considered for magnetic samples containing two kinds of spins. It is shown that, despite the nonsecular character of such interaction, the rate of the change of temperature β −1 cr can be much smaller than the rate of establishment of equilibrium in the various magnetic sub‐systems of a sample. Solutions of the equations for inverse temperatures of the magnetic sub‐systems are given in the case of a strong coupling with lattice vibrations of one of the Zeeman reservoirs. A comparison with experiment has been carried out.
