A two parameter model pseudopotential is used to calculate the phonon frequencies along the symmetry directions for lithium. The calculated frequencies are in good qualitative agreement with the experiment, except the observed crossing of the longitudinal and transverse branches along the [100] direction. Grüneisen parameter, compressibility, and binding energy have also been calculated and compared with available experimental results.
