The three‐body force shell model of Verma and Singh [1] has been modified to include the van der Waals term in the short‐range interaction potential. Further, the shell charge parameter Y has been multiplied by a factor as demanded by the rigorous theory. The model thus obtained has been applied to the calculation of the dispersion curves of silver chloride. A very good agreement has been obtained with the experimental data.
