The phenomenon of Faraday rotation arising in semiconductors with isotropic dispersion law of carrier energy in the presence of dc electric and magnetic fields has been considered on the basis of expressions for the dielectric tensor obtained in a previous work [1]. It is shown that in the case of non‐parabolic energy bands the free‐carrier Faraday rotation is accompanied by birefringence. n‐type InSb is taken as an example for numerical calculations.
