The high temperature dynamical properties of the singlet—singlet model for the Van Vleck paramagnet is investigated. Such a system can be described by the Hamiltonian of the Ising model with a transverse field. Using the high temperature approximation of Mori's continued‐fraction representation, an approximate expression for the longitudinal relaxation function is derived. This leads to renormalized magnetic excitations and the appearance of a central peak for the corresponding spectral density. Its relevance to recent neutron scattering data is discussed.
